CIAA Policy Recommendations - Input into the High Level Group on the Competitiveness of the Agro-food Industry

The CIAA policy recommendations (Input into the High Level Group on the Competitiveness of the Agro-food Industry) are an addition to the CIAA 2008 Report on the EU food and drink industry competitiveness indicators published earlier this year.

They are divided into five broad items.

1. Provide access to competitive agricultural raw materials

2. Improve access to export markets for EU food and drink products

3. Support research, development and innovation

4. Improve the EU regulatory framework

5. Improve functioning of the food chain and address resource issues

These recommendations represent the CIAA's input into the work of the High Level Group on the competitiveness of the agro-food industry.

CIAA is strongly committed to actively contribute to this exercise.

We are confident that the work of the High Level Group will lead, in Spring 2009, to a set of recommendations that will be relevant for the food and drink sector and which will, over the years to come, be translated into actionable decisions and measurable improvements for our industry.
